Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to express their annoyance at the club’s failure to land Bruno Fernandes.
According to our sources, the 19-cap Portugal international was the subject of interest from Spurs in January as they attempted to broker a deal with Sporting Lisbon to sign the playmaker, before Giovani Lo Celso’s loan move from Real Betis was made permanent.
Eventually, the Maia-born star joined Manchester United in a deal worth an initial £47m, potentially rising to £67.7m.
Since he made the switch to Old Trafford, Fernandes has shone under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 25-year-old has grabbed two goals and registered three assists in just five Premier League appearances for the Red Devils, with his latest set-up – a delightful chip into Anthony Martial’s path against Manchester City – coming just a day after Jose Mourinho watched his side limp to a 1-1 draw against Burnley.
The Portuguese attacker has truly lit up England’s top-flight in immediate fashion, and his wonderful form since arriving in Manchester has only made these Tottenham fans on Twitter disappointed that he isn’t doing the same in a Spurs shirt.
Let’s see what the supporters have been saying on Twitter…
To kick off the reaction, one fan mentioned that Mourinho’s midfield would’ve looked awesome had Fernandes arrived in north London instead of Manchester.
Another said that the club can only hope Gedson Fernandes – signed on loan in January – can be better than his namesake.
Gedson Fernandes has so far failed to dazzle in a Tottenham shirt – the 21-year-old is yet to score or assist in seven appearances across the FA Cup and Premier League.
Elsewhere, another said that he would’ve been the perfect replacement for Christian Eriksen, who joined Inter Milan in January – the pair’s technical ability is comparable, and it’s hard to argue with this fan’s statement.

Another supporter named David went as far as saying that he feels like crying everytime he sees United’s new No.18 do something for Solskjaer’s side – it truly is looking like Spurs made a huge mistake in not signing him.
In other news, these Tottenham fans have been discussing the club’s interest in a £54m-rated player…
