Shaw, who scored for England in the Euro 2020 final three years ago, has seemingly thrown his hat into the ring to start the semi-final. He also admitted that Manchester United's Dutch boss Erik ten Hag, had sent him a message before the game without going into detail about the "cheeky text" sent.

Shaw was the only specialist left-back named in Gareth Southgate's 26-player squad, but injury that sidelined him back in February kept the United defender out of the first four games. He eventually appeared as a substitute in the quarter-final against Switzerland.
WHAT LUKE SHAW SAID
Shaw said: "Yeah of course, I think I am [fit to play]. Obviously that's solely down to Gareth…but how I feel…fit and ready to go.
"Before the squad got announced we had a plan, the plan was to come back around the second or third game but things didn't go as planned and I had a little setback which pushed me back a game or so. I thought [I'd miss the whole tournament]. I worked so hard to get to the place I was at, then something like that happens. I was of course so worried. But I had a scan and stuff and it wasn't too bad so I knew there was still an opportunity to come back."

Shaw has given Southgate a decision to make. Kieran Trippier has started on the left throughout the tournament, but the Newcastle United man is typically a right-back. Bukayo Saka ended up starting as a right wing-back against Switzerland due to a formation shift to 3-4-2-1 that could be perfectly suited to Shaw.
