Many Everton fans are fuming over a statistic that emerged from Amazon Prime Video Sport (via The Gwladys Street).
As per the outlet, the Merseyside club rank third out of all of the current teams in the Premier League in terms of having the biggest transfer net spend over the last five seasons.
In total, the net spend of the Toffees is £275m, only behind Manchester City (£506m) and Manchester United (£379m), and ahead of Arsenal in fourth place (£249m).
However, it may be argued that spending all of this money has not really progressed the Blues, as they have finished no higher than seventh in the league across the last five years, failing to break into the top six like Leicester City did in 2019/20 by finishing in fifth.
Everton have also failed to win a major trophy over the last five seasons, so they do not even have a piece of silverware to show for their rather big spending over the past few years.
These members of the Goodison Park faithful fumed upon reading the stat on Twitter, with one supporter even labelling it as ‘horrendous’ and other questioning the transfer activity of owner Farhad Moshiri:
Evertonians, how do you feel about this stat? Comment below with your views!
