Cenk Tosun has complimented potential Everton transfer target Ugurcan Çakir and has highlighted the talented footballers to come from Turkey.
In an interview with BeIN Sports (via HITC), Tosun has tipped the 24-year-old goalkeeper to be the next Turkish player to move to the Premier League, much like he did himself in 2018. The forward joined Everton from Besiktas two years ago for a fee of £27m (via Sky Sports).
Tosun was sent out on loan to Crystal Palace earlier this year but returned after just two months to recover from an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained in training (via BBC Sport). His future with the club is currently uncertain but many Evertonians aren’t keen on the idea of giving him another chance under Carlo Ancelotti and would like to see him moved on in the next window.
According to Fanatik, Ancelotti is an admirer of Çakir and is keen to bring him to Goodison in the summer. Jordan Pickford has come under a lot of scrutiny this season, with many fans at the end of their tether with his lacklustre performances.
“Who can go to the Premier League from Turkey?” Tosun said to BeIN Sports. “Turkey has very good footballers. I can say Ugurcan Çakır, he comes to mind.”
The addition of the shot-stopper could either provide competition for Pickford or could see Ancelotti opt for a whole new defensive dynamic with a new goalkeeper in the spine.
